The concept of a flying car has been around for decades, and there have been several prototypes developed over the years. However, there is some debate about which prototype can truly be called the "world's first flying car." Here are a few examples of early flying car prototypes:

The Aerocar: Developed by Molt Taylor in the 1940s and 1950s, the Aerocar was a two-seater car that could convert into a plane by attaching wings and a tail. Several prototypes were built, but only a few were sold.

The Convaircar: Developed by Convair in the 1940s, the Convaircar was another car/plane hybrid. It had detachable wings and a pusher propeller that could be attached to the back of the car. Only one prototype was built.

The Taylor Aerocar III: Developed by Molt Taylor in the 1960s, the Aerocar III was an updated version of the original Aerocar. It had a more powerful engine and better performance, but it was still not a commercial success.

More recently, Chinese manufacturer Xpeng company completed XPENG X2 maiden public flight at Skydive in Dubai on 10th October 2022. Its called XPENG X2 version and it was one of the star attractions at Gitex Global, the annual technology exhibition. The X2 car made a 90-minute flight in the exhibition. Its maker said it produced zero carbon dioxide emissions and had been designed with low-altitude city capabilities in mind, reaching a maximum flight speed of 130 kilometres an hour.
